The Research On The Correspondence Theory Of Truth

The correspondence theory plays an very important role in the truth theory once it's established. But it received many different criticisms. Therefore, it is necessary to clear the wrong ideas about it. And it is also very essential to develope and perfect the theory.This article consists of three parts:Part one Summarization of the correspondence theory of truthIn this part, I introduced the main ideas and defects of four typical people in the course of the correspondence theory development. Then I analyzed and criticized Tarski's semantic theory. After that I draw a conclusion that Tarski's semantic theory is not a correspondence theory. So some misunderstanding about his theory are cleared.Part two Criticisms on the correspondence theoryIn this part, I introduce and analyze criticisms on the correspondence theory in the view of the redundancy theory, existentialism, antirealism, postmodernism and some Marxists. According this I come to a conclusion that the correspondence theory can't be discarded.Part three Developement of the correspondence theory from its defectsIn this part, I found some defects of the correspondence theory from the criticisms which had faced and its own theoretical character. According to this, I find a new way to develop the correspondence theory.
