As a writer between late Qing and Early Republican China ,Su Manshu inherited the souls both from the Chinese people and the Yamato .His literary creations include novels, poems, essays, translations, painting, and other fields, and he was also versed in kinds of languages ,such as Chinese,Japanese,English and Sanskrit. However, as a monk, he was reluctant to leave human society, advocating revolution; as a man of mould, he yearned for the temple, eagering to escape. Such a poetic shaman who is versatile and independent attracts our eyeballs, with special background.Su Manshu is one of the headmost Chinese writers to contact with the West in modern times.Comparatively, research about him started early, but came through a devious process of development. In initial times, his bizarre background baffled the identification of his works and a serious and objective evaluation of himself in literary history. Since the 1980s, with the updating researching methods , studies on Su Manshu have been making considerable progress. So far, the number of researching papers and monographs on Su Manshu has reached a considerable size, complimentarily as well as derogatorily. This dissertation puts Su Manshu into the world background between the end of 19th century and the early days of 20th century, " Emotional Plight of the Buddha" as the entry point,"Various Conflicts in Su Manshu'Poetry"as the main object of concern, be divided into two main areas to elaborate the poetic contradictions of Su Manshu under the emotional plight of the Buddha. The first part, from life and mentality to introduce Su Manshu, from the description of his overall situation of literature to deepen my understanding of him. Because of the sentence fromYu Dafu:"His translating poems are better than his poetry, and his poetry is better than his paintings, and his paintings are better than his novels."The author boldly selects the theme– poetry and novel. For two reasons, firstly, poetry is the literary form which the author is most proud of; however, what prides the poet most are translating poems but not original poetry. Secondly, his novel is ranked last by Yu Dafu, there must be some reasons. The Following context is divided into four parts, " The Collision Between Emotion and Buddha","Burning Poetic","Su Manshu'poetry and Poetic Contradiction "," Su Manshu'novels and Poetic Contradiction ".
