From performing method acting drama on the stage to developing her own performing style, "method acting" accompanies Meryl Streep's whole performing career. Meryl Streep is regarded as the best actress in "method acting" group, both by the quality of her movies and the recognition from critics and performers. This paper mainly focuses on the theory of "method acting" to discourse Meryl Streep's performing arts.First, this paper introduces Meryl Streep's acting experience, and pays close attention to her experience of studying theater acting at school which brings great impact to her. This is the most important period for her to form her own acting style.The reason why I choose Meryl Streep as the important representative of "method acting" group is because "method acting" group plays a very important role in the whole performing world, especially in the mainstream performing mode of Hollywood.Therefore, the "method acting" is summarized in the second part of this paper. Meryl Streep's film acting arts are analyzed thoroughly in the thrid part of this papaer. Streep is a talented self-motivated actress. Her plentiful imagination is also a pre condition for her to be successful. The keywords of "Method acting", such as " stated instance", "emotion memory", "improvisation" and "characterized", are all practiced perfectly by Meryl Streep. She is especially good at holding rhythm and tempo. In addition, Meryl Streep's "empathizer" theory is suitable for the narrative mode of the distance between audience and film in Hollywood. Meryl Streep's adaptation to the external creation environment makes "method acting" develop in Hollywood.This paper introduces the interaction between practice and "method acting" theory from Meryl Streep's life, arts points, and films. It researches the practice of "method acting" theory in this artist from her several representative works.
