This article looks music education concept in ordinary schools in the early 20th century in our country as the study object, and the specific research ideas is: through the analysis of the thoughts of music education and aesthetics of 15 scholars like Liang Chi-chao, Wang Guowei, Zeng Zhi Min, Cai Yuanpei etc. in the early 20th century (years 1900-1938), we can organize, analyze the school music education concept of our country to explore its connotation and nature.The early 20th century is the start of the China's modern school education, as well as the beginning of school music education in our country, during this period, the discussion of school music education focus on the nature and function of music education, especially on the relationship between music education and other education., on the status of music education in the whole education, on the aesthetic nature and education function of music education, as well as the unique quality of music education and so on. In view of this, the focus of this paper has focused mainly on the nature and functions of School Music Education. From the view of history, the development of school music education in our country is constantly moving forward in the thought of music education. Whether it is before the 1950s, after the nation founding or at the period of reform and opening up, the early idea of the school music education as a historical consciousness has impact on school music education of our country. From the view of thought resources , there has been a history of more than a century since the introduction of the aesthetic concept to our country, Until today, China's new round reform of school music education's core concept is still the "aesthetic at the core". So we can see that the early 20th century's school music education has a direct correlation with today's music education in our country. What are the similarities between today's music "aesthetic educations" with the "aesthetic" since the beginning of the 20th century? What kind of inheritance and development they have? I think that the study of the concept of school music education in the early 20th century in our country has a positive significance for our understanding of the development of China's music education. At the same time, they are also some thought resources that can not be forgotten and avoided for today's music education and the future development. It has no substantive transcendence on the concept of aesthetic of the early 20th century. In short, I think that to study and to explore the concept of school music education of the early 20th century not only have an academic value for our country to recognize the historical development of school music education in our country and to sum up the historical experience, but also provide the valuable thought resources for today's school music education reform of our country.This paper, in which the time sequence was used as the main line, applies the research methods such as the research method of description, historical research method, and the ways of interpreting documents etc. to make a comprehensive and multi-angle inspection about our country's school music education in the early 20 century.This paper contains such three parts as introduction, the theory and conclusion. And the theory has four chapters.The content of the introduction are the title analysis, the reasons why I chose this topic and the research status about this topic, and the significance and purpose of my research.The first chapter is about the statement of the historical background which includes such two parts as the case of modern China's education reform and the selection of the school songs.The second chapter is to introduce four person: Liang Qichao,Wang Guowei, Ceng Zhimin, Cai Yuanpei who are the representatives of those who are first to explore the music education and the problem of Aesthetic Education in the early 20 century, and to inspect and rearrange their concepts of ordinary music education. And theirs main ideas are also analyzed and resolved in this chapter.The third chapter is to introduce such persons as Fei Shi, Zhu Zhuang, Yujian, Tianmin, Feng Zikai, and Huangzi, who are the main representatives of those who explored the music education in the recent 30 years, and to discuss their each concept about music education and reveal their thoughts of music education.The forth chapter is based on the discussion of the second and the third chapters, to sum up the main concepts of music education during the period of 1900 to 1938. I think there are four main concepts of music education. They respectively were thought of as "Spirit education", "Aesthetic education", Emotional Education and "Character Education" and to, based on the discussion and summary about these concepts of music education, reveal the connotation of each concept. The analysis and discussion about the relations between these four concepts are also made in this chapter.The conclusion of the whole paper is not only to sum up and conclude the inspection and research on each chapter, but also again to discuss the evolution and characteristics, the historical significance, and the modern value of the concept about the ordinary music education at the period from 1900 to 1938.
