The issue of women's being oppressed and liberation has long been studied. As early as in ,Marx showed great concern for this issue. Afterwards, Classic Marxism brought this issue into the broad horizon of mankind's liberation, and analyzed the issues of the liberation of the oppressed class including women with the view of historical materialism. Through the investigation to the issue of women's liberation, Marx and Engels expressed their point of view: women's liberation is the inner meaning of mankind's liberation, and is the basic standard by which we can weigh the grade of mankind's liberation; women's liberation can only be realized in the process of mankind's liberation.Western Feminism also expressed deeply concern for the oppressed women. Basing on a special angle of view of the female sex,the Feminism traced back to the root of the oppression and expressed the value orientation of realizing the women's liberation. Different branches of the Feminism analyzed from different dimensions the oppression that women suffer in the fields of economy, politics and ideology and explored the effective approaches of women's liberation in different detailed fields, and brought up some attractive points.Western Marxist Feminism arose in the second wave of Feminist Movement in the 1960s.In order to explore the origin of the oppression, some feminists began to study Marxism, attempting to think about women's issues under new historical conditions in the Marxism, to search for the junction point of Marxism and Feminism. They tried to explain the oppression that women suffer with the historical materialism theory, inherited the analysis about the influence of economic factors on the status of women's oppressed status in the Classic Marxism. They added and modified the thoughts of women's liberation in Classic Marxism theory in there specific angle of view, and by doing this. they expanded the view of the feminist study, and at the same time enriched the theory of Marxism. This thesis focuses on the thoughts of liberation in Western Marxist Feminism and is divided into three main parts. The first expatiates on the basic thoughts of women's liberation in Classic Marxism, the second on the basic thoughts of women's liberation in Western Marxist Feminism, in which we summarized the thoughts as three main theoretical forms, the dual systems theory, the single system theory, and the revival of Marxism theory. Each form grasps the overall situation through analyzing a representative figure respectively. The third part analyses the theoretical value and limitations of Western Marxist Feminism.
