External conflicts have important influence in Political Legitimacy and this is more obvious to the newborn regime. The Syngman Rhee regime is first regime in the South Korean modern politics. External conflicts have provided the supporting function and the tool function for establishment and the maintenance of the Syngman Rhee regime, but the long-time existence of these affect decided by two factors: the development of the internal political and benefit relations changes between each conflict sides. When the condition changes, external conflict supporting function and the tool function will face threatens , and that even can cause the regime withering away.The article based on many existing Monographs and Papers about South Korean politics. Under the instruction of the Marx thought, experience methodology and case analysis are used to analyze the impact of the external conflict to The Syngman Rhee regime.The article divides into three parts: the introduction, the main body and the conclusion. The introduction introduces cause of subject selection, research background and research method. Also, it defines some basic concepts. Correspondingly, the research questions discussed in the article are summarized in the conclusion. The main body has three parts.The First Chapter is the theory about the functional analysis of the external conflict on the political legitimacy. There are positive function and negative functions . The positive function is that external conflict can promote the born of the new regime and maintain the new regime, however, external conflict may plays a negative impact on the regime when a series of changes happened.The Second Chapter mainly analyzes the external conflict maintain the legitimacy of Syngman Rhee regime. It focuses on two major aspects. The first one is that external conflicts provide a supporting role to the legitimacy of the The Syngman Rhee regime; The second one is that external conflicts provide a tool function for the internal integration.The third Chapter analyzes the conditions change and the supporting and tool function disappear. That impact on the reproduction of the legitimate resources seriously and ultimately promote the demise of the Syngman Rhee regime.
