The CCP Central Committee launched the movement for suppressing counter-revolutionaries, involving a great number of people over long duration in 1955. This movement leading to serious expansion and causing a lot of wrong cases was rare in the history of Communist China; many innocent people were labeled as counter-revolutionary elements and were purged during this catastrophe.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part: Due to the rectification movement in 1957, many problems in the movement for suppressing counter-revolutionaries were exposed, and then were criticized in tensely. Bias and flaws in the movement for suppressing counter-revolutionaries became focus of public discussion.The second part: During the rectification, the party and government organs at all levels in Hebei Province, face up with the pressure of public opinion were obliged to adopt some measures, which benefited the movement to rectify it.Part III: As the anti-rightist movement was on horizon, those who had criticized errors or those who tried to redress the wrongs immediately became the object for crack-down. A slew of flip-flops in policy triggered more and more wrong cases.After the beginning of the anti-rightist movement, the new movement for suppressing counter-revolutionaries began to emerge. Only to the fact the movement for suppressing counter-revolutionaries did not cease in Hebei province until 1963, it led to more and more wrong cases.
