On Rorty's View Of Post-Philosophical Culture

5In the western modern time, there has a strong but unlike traditional thought happened in the ideological and cultural field, it is the postmodernism thought. This thought maintain pluralism, openness, creative, emphasize the outstanding, subjectivity, transparency and collaboration. It abandons the traditional ways of thinking, but a new thinking way to resolve the problems in looking upon the world and life. Rorty a controversial philosopher in American philosophy world. Some people even don't think he is a general sense of a philosopher. During an interview, Rorty also said "I wrote something which may attractive to those people who beyond the philosophy. But in philosophy world, some people think my criticize is too dangerous to the questions which they spend their whole to look for the answers. They don't want me to make out these questions, because this will clear up their answers." Rorty criticized bitterly to the traditional rationalism, scientism and philosophy in his book "The mirror of Philosophy and Nature". We break the mirror of nature while an undominant post-philosophical culture opened for us. Rorty overturned the tradition, and proposed a novel view of philosophy and cultural, in order to find a new thinking way for the development of philosophy, and to some extent, can help us to think and determine the characteristic, capability, status and action of philosophy in today's social and cultural development. In this cultural field, no matter priests, physical scientists, poets and politicians, are not more rational, more scientific, more profound than other people.Rorty's Post-Philosophical culture opened a future view of philosophy for us, and provides more diversity, openness and creativity of the world for the post-modernist. He thinks literature and political are more important than philosophical in life. Philosophers have no special knowledge, insight and methods to solve the important problems in life, and philosophy is not more advantageous than other subjects. Thus, we should abandon the trans-historical and cross-cultural philosophical view.It is better to regard Rorty's thought is a culture perspective rather than a philosophy. In this culture, the philosophy should be closely combined with the practice, as well as poetry, art and science. Rorty's culture perspective neither clearing up the philosophy, but trying to resolve the problems of traditional philosophy by using the Post-Philosophical culture, and also started a new way to communicate with the analysis philosophy in England and United States and continental philosophy in Europe, designed a new self-image for western philosophy, pointed a new way for the development of western philosophy. The Post-philosophical culture is also a ironic culture. The future society is ideal and liberal. In such a society, the almighty intelligentsia who free irony would be admired. This dissertation discussed the ideal of Rorty's Post-Philosophical Culture based on the logical origin, theory source, and the characteristic and theoretical origins and value of Post-Philosophical Culture.
