This dissertation is contrived to analyze the most popular family scene play- The Simpsons in order to have an insight in its success. By virtue of the theory of mass communication, the author wants to draw a conclusion of its success and make a comparison between The Simpsons and domestic cartoon. It will benefit domestic cartoon to make a great progress in future.Four aspects constitute this dissertation. Firstly, the author will express the reason why she chooses this subject and the significance of this research besides the methodology. Secondly, the circumstance of The Simpsons is referred including the background of Matt Groening, the history environment. And then , the author will have a reflection on the skills of The Simpsons. For example, the images of the family member is molded in which way and the match of proper music and so on. At last, it is necessary to denote the effect of a successful cartoon both in relationship of family member and civilization of children.In this paper , the theories of sociology ,history and literature are applied to help the author illustrate her viewpoints thoroughly. As the sample cartoon is made in American and broadcasted in many English-speaking countries, many English materials are indispensable.
