Translation unit is the unit exists in source language and the smallest unit which has equivalent in target language. It is also a problem translators always face in translation. To choose and determine a translation unit is a very important composition of theory and practice of translation. Though many translators do not realize the existence of translation unit in translation, this concept actually has been used for a long time. Since 1984 translation unit was studied, this kind of discussion and researches began to develop and popularize.Although articles about translation are published in common occurrence, papers about this topic in EST are oppositely in a low number. This article just gives some examples on the basis of the study of scholars at home and abroad to analyze the choice and characteristics of translation unit in EST and the correspondence between the translation unit and its equivalent. One characteristic of translation unit is its diversity of choice, this article believes that EST can take different ranks as translation unit and then has given some examples to explain the possibilities of this idea. At the same time, it also studies the correspondence between translation unit and its equivalent at different ranks in EST...
