Equivalent Translation Of The Characters' Psychological Description In Leaving Time

This paper is selected the source language text for the Leaving Time in the first chapter, this text belongs to the typical mystery novel, and the most protruding in the novel is the psychological description, the translator classifying the psychological description of this paper,using four translation methods to expounded, this study employs the equivalent translation theory to guide the translation of psychological characters.Based on the analysis of the original text and combine with the principles of equivalent translation of the source language text, to find the appropriate translation methods, and transmit the information to the reader accurately. Therefore, first of all, translator conduct a study of the source language text analysis and make a result that the characteristics is the characters psychological of it's description. And it can be divided into four categories: direct thought, indirect thought, free direct thought, and free indirect thought. Secondly, this paper discusses the three principles of the equivalent translation: simplicity principle, consistency principle and accuracy principle. Finally, it summarized the main translation method in the translation process. It can be divided into four categories: literal translation, free translation,linear translation, and restructuring translation. This paper is to get through the combine of the translation method and the equivalent principle to achieve the purpose of equivalent translation.The study found that English and Chinese have their own independent and distinct system, because these two languages belong to two different languages, there are large differences between the two in terms of morphology and syntax, which causes some difficulties to fiction translation. Therefore, when choosing translation methods, in addition to considering the language and writing features of the novel itself, the translator should combine with the context to select translation methods, in order to complete mystery novel's translation better. I hope this article can provide guidance and reference for mystery novel.
