Amy Tan is after Maxine Hong Kingston's another the famous American writer of Chinese descent. She is good at describing the emotional dispute between mothers and daughters. Most of the leading characters in her works are Chinese women born in the United States. Amy's literary productions were based on her personal experiences, such as The Joy Luck Club, The Kitchen God's Wife, The Hundred Secret Senses and The Bonesetter's Daughter four novels. In her deep thought, there are two entirely different cultures ---- traditional Chinese culture and American mainstream culture, where the two different cultures have been conflicting and integrating. The culture connotation of literary production is the most valuable terms of all. In this paper, the author carried out an overall analysis of Amy Tan and her works from cross-cultural research angle of comparative literature, in order to explain further the culture connotation and even grasp comprehensively and thoroughly Amy Tan's creative thoughts and works. The full text expounded the main line " conflict and integration of culture ", which was divided into three main parts:In the first part, the author overviewed the conflict and the integration between Chinese culture and American mainstream WASP culture, and pointed out that this cultural collision and communication has made a direct impact on Amy Tan's cultural identity and creativity. In the early stage, the Chinese immigrant were repeled by the American mainstream society. The second generation of Chinese immigrant pursued the"American Dream". The contemporary Chinese immigrant has been searching their own culture identities. All mentioned above is the process of the conflict and integration between Chinese immigrant and American mainstream society. The second part focused on an analysis of Amy Tan's dual culture identity influenced by the traditional Chinese culture and American mainstream culture; In the light of specific text, the author analyzed the conflict and integration of the East-West heterogeneous cultures in the third part. This part was mainly addressed from two aspects: first, "cultural conflict", the straits of Chinese women lived in the United States with the dual-culture identity. Mother represented the traditional culture while daughter represented the American mainstream culture. The dispute between the mother and the daughter is virtually the conflict of the two cultures. Because they were wandering between the two cultures, they were perplexed for their culture identities. The other aspect is "cultural integration". After a series of conflicts, mother and daughter at last understood each other. The mother changed the view toward to the American culture, while the daughter envisaged the brand of Chinese traditional culture on herself. The two generations ---- mother and daughter----mutually accepted the cultures which represented by the other side, which reflected that the two cultures had been integrating to a certain extent. They finally confirmed their own culture identities. And the new culture identities were based on the integration of the East–West heterogeneous culture.Amy Tan's works have paid a good deal attention to the living status of Chinese group in the United States, especially to the density of Chinese women there. According to the research of Amy Tan's literature, we gained a great enlightenment: nowadays, at the continuous development of multi-culture, we need to consider how to deal with the culture conflict and integration between the different cultures, and search for an understanding on the cross-cultures.
