Survey Of The Risk Factors About Inpatients' Suicidal Ideation At One General Hospital

Objective:To Investigate the prevalence of suicidal ideation among inpatients at one general hospital,to explore risk factors of suicidal ideation with somatic disease patients,and to provide evidence for preventing suicide in clinic.Methods:15 years of age or older inpatients(department of ENT, Oncology,General surgery,Cardiovascular medicine) able and agree to fill out questionnaires were samlped,self-designed Questionnaires were undertaked,including general information,somatic disease,suicide risk factors and suicidal ideation,et al.Data about suicidal ideation and related factors was obtained.A multiple logistic regression model was used to identify risk factors for suicidal ideation.Results:1.33(8.11%)of the 407 inpatients reported suicidal ideation, 16 reported suicidal plan.Incidences of suicidal ideation in various department of hospital were not statistically significantly diference. 2.Inpatients with suicidal ideation had more anxiety and depression(P=0.000).3.The Cronbach's Alpha reliability of self-designed questionnare of suicide risk factors in patients with somatic disease was 0.878,the Cronbach's Alpha reliability of all factors were 0.551-0.825.the item loadings of items was 0.413-0.662. Criterion-related validity studies showed that the scores of the 51 items were positive correlated with Self-rating Depression Scale,Self-rating Anxiety Scale and suicide ideation(r_SDS=0.69,r_SAS=0.51,r_SI=0.345,P＜0.01).4.Identified risk factors of suicidal ideation were disease prognosis,history of suicide and 3 factors of the self-designed questionnaire,including anxiety,Attributional Style,and hopeless.Conclusion:1.Incidence of suicidal ideation and suicidal plan among inpatients in general hospitals is higher than normal population. Development of suicidal ideation in inpatients is closely related with somatic disease.2.Reliability and validity of self-designed questionnare of suicide risk factors in patients with somatic disease accord with psychometric demands.The questionnare can be used in clinic.3.Risk factors of suicidal ideation are disease prognosis,history of suicide and 3 factors of the self-designed questionnaire,including anxiety,Attributional Style,and hopeless.4.15 items can be used to screen for risk factors in somatic disease patients with suicide ideation.Patients with risk factors of suicidal ideation can be considered as high-risk of suicidal.
