We take these disyllabic neologisms which are collected by comparing the terms in the 5th edition of Modern Chinese Dictionary to the 1th as the object of the thesis. Then we build the database to do quantitative analysis of these words. We hope we could show the profile and features of the modern Chinese disyllabic neologisms after the dynamic comparison and quantitative analyses of the two editions of Modern Chinese Dictionary. And provide some useful data for the language workers who want to know the trends of Chinese vocabulary development. There are five chapters in the thesis.The first chapter is the introduction. Mainly introduces the topic, the source and significance of the corpus, and the research methods.In chapter two, we count and analyze the word class, multi-category words and the sense.In chapter three, we study these words with special notations such as"〈kou〉","〈shu〉","〈fang〉"or noting the foreign languages in the interpretation.Chapter four we focus on the relationship between the morpheme meaning to the meaning of the disyllabic neologism. According to the way and quantity of expressing the meaning, we've get three major categories. We found that most of the disyllabic neologisms with their superficial meaning, and we analyze the reasons at the same time.In chapter five, we conduct a comprehensive study on the register categories. The last chapter is a conclusion. Briefly summarize the main conclusions of this thesis.
