Wu Fan is one of representative personages which the Chinese modern print development time Sichuan picture sends. In Sichuan print, Wu Fan is characterized by his fresh and implicit style, demonstrating his unique artistic style.Wu Fan graduated from Chongqing Public Artistic School in 1948. He had taught drawing in a middle school of Chongqing and had successively held the leader of editorial department in Chongqing Cultural Federation and the director of the second and the third session of Chinese Art Association as well as the vice chairman of Sichuan branch site. His works aims at excavating simple beauty in daily life and seeing the spirit of the times from ordinary people. He is good at expressing the essence of life through details and conveying the feelings of common people, which make people feel familiar. Most of Wu Fan's wood engravings are multi-colored, including watermark and color printing, among which the watermarks are especially famous both at home and abroad. Most of Wu's works praise ordinary laboring people. In the age when people advocate heroes and pursue perfection, Wu Fan didn't follow the trend blindly but tried to discover the beauty around according to his own understanding and recognition and created a series of works of his unique style. Especially, Dandelion has been thought highly of at home and abroad.This article mainly through to Wu Fang times creation print theme and content, composition form, form esthetic sense, knife skill as well as esthetic orientation inquisition, thus obtains his artistic style and the artistic characteristic. His simple, elusive art style with magnificent artistic conception is worth learning by our modern print learners.
