But it does not rigidly adhere to the definition and description of figures of speech, but focus on that how the pursuit of the effects of the rhetoric promotes the lexical development.Firstly, there is a review of the general study on the relation between the rhetoric and the lexical development, in which some achievements are showed and some deficiencies are pointed out. Secondly, the principles about how the rhetoric influences the lexical development are analyzed and the performance is discussed, from the theoretical point of view. Then, we choose"yanggao"(lamb),"qing"(clear),"dongjing"(news, movement, or the sound of movement and speaking) as typical words to portray their development under the influence of the rhetoric so as to illuminate the idea that the rhetoric makes a profound impact on lexical development. This study can not only provide a new perspective for the establishment of Chinese lexical history, but also point out a new direction for the traditional rhetoric.
