Chinese ancient drama audience identity structure can be divided into sergeant, businessmen, farmers, women and literati. With the change of the dynasty, the proportion of structure of audience changed. Compared with Song and yuan dynasty, mainly is the proportion of literary audience group has increased, its effect also gradually began to appear. Because of the intrest and participation of literati, dramatic appeared many changes, such as the standardization of script and songs, the literati-tendency of the themes, and consciousness of dramatist, wht is more, lyrics of dramatic and performance art had been refined and improved.Due to the different audience groups, the audience showed different needs. The needs can be divided into three categories: the recreational needs ,emotional needs and aesthetic demand. But once the dramatic had been performed, then win more spectators, seek more profits will be inevitable requirement, therefore, in order to get the audience, opera actors , writers, and theorist grasped and catered to the needs of different audience , and good results have been achieved.To sum up, we can learned that brilliant success of ancient drama comed from the grasp of different needs of audience groups .Now reflect on the drama market situation, we will find, compared with that of the ancient , the audience group structure had changed, the demands of different audience groups had also changed, but It is worth drawing lessons from the experience about valueing the audience and their needs in ancient. If modern drama can learn from this experience, and use the new methods and theory, it will revive brilliance.
