Dance and dance education have existed for a long time. In the evolution of dance becoming artistic, the non-artistic functions of dance are changing and extending. In the historical developing course, moral meaning has always been a thread under different cultural backgrounds through the history of dance. No matter which period in the history, the functions of dance have never been broken, thus being a trend of continuum. With the records of literature, some aspects of dance education have been recorded and investigated. The preliminary record about the functions of dance education places an emphasis on its moral function. This thesis is based on the analysis of the educational function and moral function displayed by various elements of the dance body (especially autonomy element) in comparson with other art forms, and indicates that educational function and moral function of dance and dance education have the existence possibility and existence significance. When applied to a broader humane background for comparative analysis and study, the thesis draws the conclusion that the functions beyond the beauty of dance is its ultimate goal. On the other hand, this thesis has an exploring analysis of other elements beyond the dance body (like heteronomy element) especially dance educator and dance receiver, as well as the conditions realizing those functions at the levels of dance education's receivers. Thus the moral function of dance and dance education is put into an anlysis in an interactive and active environment. This method of analysis breaks through the stereotype that the previous studies placed the dance educational receivers in a passive position and that dance and its education function occupied a powful position. What's more, it is recognized that the qualities in dance teachers are of importance to dance learners, and that the moral function of dance and dance education is realized by dance educator and dance performer who are the final conductor. On the basis of these recognitions, dance teachers and their moral cultivation are significant for the development of dance art.
