George Orwell (George Orwell ,1903-1950), whose real name is Eric Arthur Blair, are well-known British humanitarian writers, journalists and social commentators. He had a political fable novel Animal Farm , and political predictions novel 1984 , as well as many articles of well-known political comment article. In his short lifetime, he gave his insight into the reality of his time by writing and recording his life with an acute sense of personal awareness, and even made a lot of prophecy. Orwell, as his contemporaries, is a distinctive political writer. He gave weight to the political concerns in his works, and tried to interpret his political and ideological view. Therefore, he was called "the wintry conscience of a generation." The Animal Farm and 1984 are called the world's most famous literary fiction and political allegory. 1984 is an anti-utopian literature, it is one of the representative works in the World Anti-Utopian Literature. 1984 has descibed the political darkness and horrible picture under the totalitarianism. This paper is divided into four parts:Part I, The introduction Orwel's social and historical background of livelihood and the introduction of his major works. George lived in the 20th century, the Great Depression of the 30s, the fascists running the world, the outbreak of World War II and the post-war Cold War era. The history of the world at that time are most volatile, which is a historic time of change. Imperialism moved towards recession because of its own contradictions,and the fascists took the opportunity to seize power. People have questioned and been disappointed in the emerging socialist camp because of the totalitarian dictatorship. Experienced British colonial imperialism and the Spanish Civil War, Orwel was influenced by Utopia, socialism and totalitarianism , which were reflected in his works, and made the anti-utopian writing style take shape.Part II, The Review of the anti-utopian idea. This part mainly illustrates the nature of the anti-utopian idea through the introduction of the origin of Utopian literature and the four models of Utopian literature. Anti-Utopia doesn't stand opposite to Utopia. Anti-utopia is actually a variant of Utopia, which is belong to Utopia. Anti-utopian literature can be said to be Utopian literature in a special form, they emerged because of the discontent of the social reality and fears for the future of mankind, whose purpose is to guide mankind's survival and development of their own illusion, warning people the great power of their illusion. Part III, The Anti-utopian idea embodied in 1984. In this paper, the anti-utopian idea of George Orwell was introduced throught the anti-utopian political design and the collision between Utopia and the reality. The reality was explanted in the individual characteristics excluded by Utopia, and form the dualistic opposition to Utopia.Part IV, 1984 is an anti-utopian, anti-totalitarian works, which was around the theme of concerning about the reality and opposing dictatorship. This part introduced the historical value and practical significance, as well as limitations of 1984 .In the book, Orwell highlighted the concerns of reality, exposed the contradiction between Utopia and reality with realistic brushwork The purpose was to let people know the dangers of totalitarianism and the reflection of Utopian idea. But he not only failed to make any positive prediction of the Democratic Socialism, but also failed to find a way to keep the Democratic Socialism away from the totalitarian path. So that Orwell's anti-utopian idea also has limitations.
