Yu Guangzhong is so great a Chinese poet and writer in the 20th century that people would like to buy his work and read them wherever there exist local Chinese bookstores. The critic, Mr.Li Yuanluo evaluates him like this: "on the abundance of work, deepness of ideas, excellence of skills, even the ever-changing style of far-reaching effects, Yu is one of the greatest achievers. "This paper is arranged mainly according to the signs of Yu's poetry style changes (that is, from traditional to modern and then return to the traditional). Combined with Yu Guangzhong's theoretical viewpoints and works of poetry, it systematically discusses the idea of his poems in different periods, the pursuit of poetic art, creative ideas, meanwhile it also explores the return of his poetry style from the perspectives of the poet's emotional experience, creative techniques, pursuit of art, etc.This paper is divided into three parts to the study of Yu's poetry:It deals with the ideological content in the first part. From "The Book of Odes", "The Odes of Chu", nostalgia, which contains not only the pain of yearning, but also includes the realization of desires, has been an everlasting literary theme in the long history of Chinese poetry .The man-made long-term separation of Taiwan and the mainland , together with the drift in life of millions of people to the island with a sense of longing to settle down, give the nostalgic poetry unparalleled broad content in any previous era, reflect the strong feelings of home and country, then the poet desires to "go home". As a Chinese poet who had left the mainland for several decades, Yu's poetry is bound to be imprinted with profound epoch signs.As regards the second part, it elaborates on the return of Yu Guangzhong's works in the art of poetry creation. Poem has deep roots with music, and it is often referred to as the poetry in the traditional Chinese literature .From the Book of Odes, The Odes of Chu, all the way to Yuefu, the Song to the Yuan Dynasty, the sound of cantus in traditional poetry has incessantly been lingered on. Yu also believes that the pursuit of rhyme and rhythm of the poem from the aesthetic style is the fundamental mark that makes it different from prose. Therefore, Mr.Yu returns to the poetry itself in the poetic language, rhythm, rhyme, structure, and pursues musicality as well as popularity from poetry and then he can express a wealth of affection and beauty, and enhance the artistic expression. What's more commendable is that Yu has also been actively involved in writing lyrics, and contributed many well-known classic songs, which expanded the influence of poetry.The third part expounds the return upon his creative concept, and poetics notion. Any nation's literature has its own prescriptive and independent system .But no matter how strong this independence is, it is impossible to stop its opening up to foreign literature and communication. For this reason, combining Chinese tradition with the western culture, Yu managed to achieve the combination of Chinese and Western aesthetics, putting the eastern poetry beauty and the western modern culture into the same furnace to create China's new poetry in a new era, which is also of China's Nationalization, modern, art, and a wide range of new poetry, thus he set up the poetry bridge between nationalization and modernization.
