Comparative Research On Modern Mandarin And The Chinese Characters In Korean Vocabulary In Korean-Vocabulary List For Learning

This paper compares some Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary from Korean- Vocabulary List for Learning with modern Chinese words. 5965 vocabulary lists are indexed in Korean- Vocabulary List for Learning and are divided into three level called ABC. At present, these vocabularies are being most commonly used. Facing frequent economic and cultural exchanges between the South Korea and China, it is more necessary for us to understand the two languages. Some Chinese words originating in China were imported to Korea more than 2, 000 years ago, and was assimilated later into the Korean language. These Chinese characters being assimilated into Korean word are called Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary. During the process of Chinese characters' assimilation, their original meanings and usages has disappeared for a number of reasons, therfore, their modern meanings and usages are apparently different. Though some predecessors have done such a comparative study of South Korean vocabulary, but haven't advanced with the rapid development of modern society where vocabulary is also changing. However, this article makes a comparative study comprehensively and systematicly on the most commonly used Korean vocabulary at present and the Modern Chinese from the perspective of their meanings.The paper includes five parts:First: introduction. Introduce the research topics, research status, and the significance and innovation of the research.Second: Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary. This part focuses on the definition and the origin of the Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary. The origin of the Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary contains Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary originating from china and Japan, and that created by Korea. Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary originating from china includes 3 kinds too, that is, Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary from classical literature, that from Buddhist scriptures importing from China, and that affected by vernacular Chinese.Third: the analysis and comparison of modern Chinese and Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary in Korean Vocabulary List for Learning. With the Quantitative and Qualitative Methods, this part analyses and understands the rates and features of Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary in Korean vocabulary list for Learning. Firstly, divide the Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary into two kinds in a general way: Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary composed entirely of Chinese characters and Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary composed partly of Chinese characters. Then, divide the Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary composed entirely of Chinese characters into three kinds: Synonyms, words in different meanings and words with the same and different meanings. And then, further to divide the Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary composed partly of Chinese characters into Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary with the same meaning and some with the same meaning but different gender. All the steps aim to explore reasons for and features of some Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary with the same meaning, some with different meaning, some with the same meaning and different meaning, and some with the same meaning both in Chinese and Korean language.Forth: conclusion. State the features of Chinese characters in Korean vocabulary and the inadequacy of the thesis.
