Stone shovel is one kind of important agricultural tools in periods from Neolithic Age to Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasty. Also, it is one kind of the most characteristic tools of Pre-Yangshao Culture in Northern China. However, it has few particular studies on them yet.This article has tried to analyze the stone shovels of Pre-Yangshao Culture in Northern China by way of Archeology Typeology in order to discuss the regularities of its shape evolution agriculture and the original agriculture in that period.The connotation of Pre-Yangshao Culture in Northern China is becoming more and more abundant along with more archaeological sites being dogged. The early studies on Stone shovels of Pre-Yangshao Culture in Northern China are not comprehensive because of lack new archaeological materials.This thesis has five chapters: the fist chapter mostly introduces the concept, discovery course of Pre-Yangshao Culture in Northern China and every culture's connotation. The second chapter mostly introduces the archaeological materials of stone shovels in every culture of Pre-Yangshao Culture in Northern China. The third chapter is the most important part, which assembles the stone shovels of the same type and then discusses the evolvement of stone shovels'types in Pre-Yangshao Culture in Northern China. The forth and fifth chapters mainly discuss questions of how to install stone shovel's handle and how to use it,then discuss the original agriculture of Pre-Yangshao Culture in Northern China according to stone shovel and the other remains along with them.
