The Study Of Ethical Issues In The Use Of Engineering

Engineering activities is a most basic social practice by humanities, which involves many problems of the relationships between the human and the nature, the human and the society, the human each other. Therefore, it also involves a large number of complex ethical problems. Engineering ethics focuses on people's "creation" behavior and values of it, it has to answer a question that "what should a man do" .The study of ethical issues in the use of engineering belongs to the research into engineering ethics which is a new field of ethics. To this day, people have discussed the different stages of engineering activities, such as decision-making, designing, and construction. But, people pay a little attention to the study of ethical issues in the use of engineering. However the use of engineering contains massive ethical issues that are hided in the stages of decision-making, designing, and construction. On one hand, the good goal of design will be realized when engineering product being used, on the other hand, because modern engineering technology itself has a huge internal driving force, under the situation that modern engineering is large and complex , the issues which can not be seen in the other stages appear. Studies of how should we look at and how to solve the ethical issues in the use of engineering are necessary.Based on this research topic, the author makes clear the concept of engineering presented in this paper, and gives the definition of the use of engineering from the dynamic and static aspects. The feature of the engineering activities is its practicality, so the author discusses the ethical phenomena of the use of engineering through the case analysis. To the author's opinion , political needs, commercial interests and different culture traditions result in the ethical issues in the use of engineering. We should reflect the ethical issues in the use of engineering from three sides. One is the comparison to the engineering activities link itself. The other is the lag effect of the ethical principles and moralities compared to the engineering pace. Another is the active or passive value choice of the use of engineering. At the end of the paper, the author gives several settlement proposals for the ethical issues in the use of engineering, mainly to make ethical regulations, pay attention to the education of engineering ethics, and enhance supervision from the public for ethical issues in the use of engineering.
