Calligraphy is a dominant art form in China for thousands of years, with numerous famous calligraphers and their masterpieces worshipped, which closely connected with calligraphy education. Thus education contributed to the development of calligraphy. As the peak of feudal dynasties, Tang was advanced in art as well as other aspects, calligraphy, which is representative, reached its climax:both regular script and cursive script gained suprem achievement, several masters stood out, calligraphy studying and practicing was popular, and calligraphy education, more regular and massive. The paper studies on calligraphy education in Tang dynasty, first, the emperor's influence on calligraphy and the education, second, measures taken on calligraphy education. Family teaching and private teaching are both important forms of calligraphy teaching as well as educational site teaching, therefore, the paper studyies on these teaching forms. Calligraphy theory comes from practice, and guides practice, so the main content of calligraphy deucation. Calligraphy theory in Tang dynasty is profound, covers aspects of calligraphy, so the paper file it and try to sum it up. Calligraphy education, as a mass one, covers a large variety of people, so in the final part the paper studies on the calligraphy-learning groups.
