In this paper, the author give an analysis of the thinking of Plato's poetics by researching Socrate's view of imitation and poesy which presented contradiction in Plato's Utopia.I reseach the discussion related to imitation in the first part so that to analyse Plato's view of imitation. Fisrt of all, I traced the concept of imitation, then research ed the essence of act of imitation in ancient Greece and the objective of this kind of action. After that, I made the sudden transition of Socrate's attitude with imitation and poesy to be the start point of researching. Hereby, I analysed the Socrate's real attitude of imitation, also I could analyse the difference between his implicit "imitation for the truth" and "imitation of image", including the essence of this imitation and the corner to confront. According to the property of "imitating for truth",I analysing the action of "imitation" in Socrate's discussion, also about the Plato's "imitation". Then explaning the paradox between the criticism of the imitation relate to Scorate and his own behavior, in order to get the point of view from the imitation for the role and significance of poesy by Plato. In the second part of the paper, according to the Socrate's view of imitation which we had already got, I would analyse "Ell's story" narrated by Scorate in the chapter 10 of Utopia, and interpreting the essence of the poesy and poet from the story. First of all, I would review the related meaning of "poesy" in the ancient Greece, then we could differentiate the different objective about the criticism of poesy by Scorate, and in his point of view, the biggest guilt of poesy is the action which could not really manifest the "creation" of the "God's essence". After that, I would analyse the Ell's story, it's the metaphorical explanation by Scorate to his logos world, as well as he did the imitation to the world "truth" that he took for granted. On the basis of the analysis to the concept of imitation and poesy, we take a conclusion that Plato divided the action which related to poesy to "creation" and "eulogize". Meanwhile, I would analyse the different meaning of "creation" and "eulogize" by analysing the identity of the dramatis personae Ell, and the identity of Scorate who is the creator of the story. In addition, I would judge poesy creation from Plato's view, also about its relationship with philosophy. In the third part of this paper, I would interpret the meanings of chanting to the normal citizen from Plato's point, also the effect about one people who is learning "knowledge" and the existence meaning of understanding the own and world by analysing the Scorate asked for the story be eulogized in the end of the story, and the scenario setting of "life choice" in Ell's story. Thereout, I concluded the Plato's view to poesy, and the antinomy from his designation about Scorate's word in the Utopia, and writing style without manifest his point completely. Finally, I could analyse the difference between Utopia and traditional poesy, also about the new meaning endued by him.
