Study On "V De/bu Liao" Structure

In modern Chinese,'V de/bu liao" structure is known for its wide usage,flexible meaning and complicated structure.There are few systematic and thorough studies of "V de/bu liao" structure in the linguistic field.According to the meaning of "liao",we classify "V de/bu liao" structure into "V de/bu liao₁"and "V de/bu liao₂"."liao" means "finish,use up" in "V de/bu liao₁";and "liao" doesn't have definite meaning.This paper mainly studies "V de/bu liao₂" structure,including syntactic analysis, semantic analysis,grammatical analysis,the characters of "adjective+ bu liao₂"comparative sentences,the investigations and discussions of asymmetrical phenomena of""V de liao₂" and "V bu liao₂".Chapter 2,3,4,5 are the main parts of this paper.In Chapter 2,we mainly focus on the syntactic characteristic investigation of"V de/bu liao₂".Firstly,"V de/bu liao₂" can be come along with object,complement and adverbial modifier.Secondly,we describe the syntactic function of "V de/bu liao₂"in detail."V de/bu liao₂" can be predicate,attribute,complement and adverbial modifier. Thirdly,we study on the composing of "V"."V"of "V de/bu liao₂" can be verb, adjective and "adverbial modifier+center" phrase.In Chapter 3,according to "bounded unbounded" and "happened" "not happened",we investigate the semantic characteristic of "V de/bu liao₂".Then,we analyse the grammatical meaning of the "V de/bu liao" structure."V de/bu liao₂" can express the possibility of "V";"V de/bu liao₂+Num" can express the possibility of "Num".From the aspects of "type of writing" and "genus of sentence",we investigate into the pragmatics characteristic of the "V de/bu liao" structure. In Chapter 4,we mainly investigate into the characters of "adjective+ bu liao₂"comparative sentences and the relationship between this type of sentence and comparative category.According to the adjective,we classify "adjective+ bu liao₂"comparative sentences into two types:the "measurement" type and the "character" type.We analyse the characteristics of those two type of comparative sentences.Then,we discuss the position of the comparative points and the rules whether the comparative points appear.In Chapter 5,we investigate the asymmetrical phenomenon of ""V de liao₂" and "V bu liao₂".""V de liao₂" and "V bu liao₂" are asymmetrical on frequency,syntactic function and grammaticalization.Then,we discuss the reason of these asymmetrical phenomenon.We consider that the restriction of the potential category are one reason of these asymmetrical phenomenon.Furthermore,according to the axiom of "affirmative and negative" by Yuzhi Shi,"V bu liao₂" is more frequent than "V de liao₂".Lastly,we try to use the "sign theory" to explain the asymmetrical phenomenon of ""V de liao₂" and "V bu liao₂".
