Black and white painting, an ancient drawing genre, has been gradually marginalized by mainstream drawing schools because of modern arts popularity. In such condition, I will analyze the creation via white and black picture, a manifestation embodied by two extreme colors of white and black, their mutual reflection and binary opposition. Yet the indirect manifestation is most attractive in different black and white manifestations, which puts the object in an interesting and beautiful composition. For instance, the blank area can form images, the two-dimensional picture can produce a sense of place, and the black and white also hide sense of colors, which inspires me to write this thesis. These phenomena result from the visual illusion that make the blank form images and brings about sense of place and connotative colors. Nevertheless, these reflex phenomena relate closely with man's minds and psychologies. Every coin has two sizes. We should avoid the negative influence from visual illusion, but we should also make use of the positive side to enrich the picture, inspire man's imagination and create a sense that real world and virtual world coexist. The fantasy brought by two extreme colors of black and white is like music that benefits hearing sense with its tune and rhythm.
