The Study On The Appellations In "Yuan Qu Xuan"

Appellations not only reflect the status, cultural education, ethics and interpersonal relationships of both participants of the communication, but also reflect the speaker's ideas, attitude and emotion. They also to some extent reflect the cultural context of a time, a place, and a nationality. Employing appellations appropriately or not is directly related to whether the communication can be carried out smoothly. As a typical representative of Popular Literature, Yuan zaju is the mainstream in Yuan Dynasty, with its brilliant achievements.The thesis focuses on the appellations in "Yuan Qu Xuan" which was edited by Zang Jinshu in Ming Dynasty, then gathers all the appellations as much as possible through the writer's efforts, and gives classificatory descriptions to outline the appellation system of Yuan and Ming period. With specific pragmatic situations, the thesis discusses their cultural connotation and psychological characteristics of people. The study not only helps us understand the status and features of appellations in Yuan and Ming period, but also helps study the values of Han nationality, mental state and interpersonal relationships.
