Compared to the cities, the educational resources in rural areas are not so affluent as those in urban ones because of the lagging behind of the economic development in rural areas. Some advanced educational ideas can not be spread fast. Moreover, the village teachers are still applying traditional teaching methods subject to their limitation on professional knowledge and comparatively backward teaching conceptions. Automatic learning is an important part to realize principal education and also the reflection of a student's ability. To pay attention to the students' ability on automatic learning means the attention not only to the students'learning achievement and their physical, psychological health; but also to the students' ability of sustainable development and lifelong learning. It is significant to extend the application of metacognitive theory and automatic learning theory in our area for the elevation of the village students' automatic learning ability.This essay is to know the situation of automatic learning ability of the junior middle school students. It does some investigations and researches on the basic demand from learning skills and learning strategy of junior middle school students; based on the reference of the bibliographies; guided by metacognitive theory; according to the descriptions of automatic learning's characteristics from abroad, the psychologists' description on automatic learners, the metacognitive theory, the discussion on automatic learning and new course standard. It also did some investigations and researches on the situation on village junior middle school students'automatic learning ability from the five perspectives:learning motivation, self-observation, learning strategy, self-consciousness and self-evaluation. With the help of SPSS 13.0, we get the result that:the junior middle school students' automatic learning ability is very low,but, without sexual difference.The author put forward the following ability cultivation methods combined with Metacognitive theory, learning characteristics' junior middle school students and automatic learning strategy:Step 1 Through the questions of the teachers, the students should know the problems they should make clear in the learning time so as to for a thinking background. Step 2 The teachers should activate the thinking of the students to help the students to form their own learning plan through various questions.Step 3 The students should learn by themselves, which is a metacognitive reconstruction process.Step 4 The teachers should ask some questions that can make student keep learning out of class so as to reinforce their learning.Step 5 The teachers proposed some questions than can change extracurriculary from the chassroom, make his own study more further.The author applied the method above on an experimental class for four months. From the good result, the author drew a conclusion that the method is effective on the cultivation of students' automatic learning ability. The students were interested. They scored higher in the examinations. The students tended to choose the challenging mission, a more effective and suitable learning method and their attributions on their successful learning are becoming much more reasonable.
