The superb technical of mould casting was a major feature of metallurgy technology in ancient China. The casting process including: the casting technology of stone moulds, the casting technology of pottery moulds, the casting technology of metal moulds and lost wax technology. The casting technology of pottery moulds began in the Neolithic, by Xia, Shang and Zhou's development, in the Shang and Zhou dynasties, this casting reached its peak. The productions of bronze, which were unique shape, beautiful decoration in this way became famous throughout the world. Ancestors created as a symbol of ancient Chinese civilization of the Bronze Culture. Therefore, the research of ancient pottery casting technology has attracted scholars of ancient history casting.Houma site is located in Shanxi Province. It was famous as the capital of ancient Jin, and it was also one of the largest bronze relics of the pre-Qin period found in China so far. Many relics of the bronze, all sorts of pottery mold which provides a wealth of standard materials for researching the development of bronze technology at the time, were unearthed in Houma site. The existence of black surface layer of some pottery moulds which unearthed in Houma site. In the past the scholars of ancient history casting only make a simple description these, not to explore these strictly. In order to understand the causes of black and grey layer of material, what kind of material as well as the casting process in which the role play, use of FTIR, XRF, XRD, Raman spectroscopy and other analytical methods to conduct a comprehensive test of its analysis and based on archaeological survey, society background research and technology on the basis of the theory, a simulation test to verify that this layer of the material analyzed, may reveal the causes of the formation of black layer, as well as its foundry function.
