Aims:Try to use common EEG and HRV to analyze the differences of athletes in spontaneous state. By comparing the sensitivity of each indicator, this research tries to find out if HRV can be used as a good indicator of the spontaneous state. Methods:Data on two groups of athletes were compared. One group is the data of elite athletes'and common athletes'. The other group is data of the same group of athlete in different states. T-test was used to compare the differences. Results:First, no difference was found between the two kinds of athletes except for the power value data. Second, to the same group of athletes, in different time of a training cycle, significant difference was found in the power spectrum data. Third, after adding the HRV indicators, significant differences were found in almost all of the 8 groups of data of power spectrum of the different grade of athletes. While to the data of the same group athletes, in different time of the training cycle, only 3 groups of frequency data indicated significant difference.Conclusions:(1) No similarity was found between the EEG and HRV. (2) Using EEG indexes, differences between athletes of different sports levels reflected in the a wave power spectrum at high frequency. While significant differences were found in the right occipital a wave index for the two measurements of a training period. A wave index increased significantly. (3) The selected indicators of HRV have some sensitivity in assessing the power spectrum value of brain waves, but further verifications need to be provided.
