A Research About Socialist Education Movement In Changwei Area

The CPC Central Committee decided to launch a widespread urban and rural areas's socialist education movement across the country against the phenomena of rural cadres eating too much and accounts being not clear in September 1962, after the convening of the Eighth Plenary 10th Session. Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, Changwei committee carried out the "Socialist Education" movement, also known as the "Four Clean-ups" movement, in the whole area.Changwei area's "Socialist Education " movement is consistent with the national's overall, but also has its own characteristics. For the time, it lasted nearly four years, since the " Socialist Education " pilot by the end of 1962 in rural areas to the "Cultural Revolution" being all-out in 1966. For the development stage, Changwei area's "Socialist Education " movement went through vary movement forms. Firstly, it was rural " Socialist Education "pilot which did not clearly spell out the "Four Clean-ups" movement. Then it was the rural "Four Clean-ups" movement pilot and the "The Movement against the Five Evils" in urban area ". The third was the large scale movement organized by the provincial party in Haiyang. The fourth was the "Four Clean-ups" movement in one city and five counties of Changwei area, according to the experience of Haiyang. In the end, the "Four Clean-ups" movement,which had not been fully completed, was brought into the "Cultural Revolution".Changwei area's " Socialist Education " pilot started from October 1962 and ended in May 1963. This phase has not yet formally put forward the concept of "Four Clean-ups" movement. Changwei committee mainly sent its " Socialist Education " pilot working groups to Weixian, Changyi county. At the same time, the CPC Central Committee had not yet formally proposed the"Four Clean-ups" movement, but recognized what Hebei and other places did. So in this stage, Changwei area had been initiating the"Four Clean-ups" movement, that is, Adjusting the work points,Adjusting the accounts, Adjusting the property and Adjusting the storage. The "Little Four Clean-ups" movement started from May 1963 and ended in the fall of 1964. "The Movement against the Five Evils" in urban Changwei area experienced three stages of increasing production economy, "The First Movement against the Three Evils " and "The Later Movement against the Two Evils". The large scale movement started in October 1964 and ended in August 1966. All the " Socialist Education " movement went through a gradual development, from the "Little Four Clean-ups" Movement ",which is Adjusting the work points,Adjusting the accounts, Adjusting the property and Adjusting the storage, to "senior Four Clean-ups" Movement,which is Adjusting the politics, Adjusting the economy, Adjusting the thinking, Adjusting the organization.The "Socialist Education" movement has played a certain role in the work style of cadres and economic management, but a number of grass-roots cadres got to be combated for confusions between two types of contradictions in the second half of 1964.1n early 1965 it wrongfully made the whole movement focused on the so-called " capitalist roaders" in the Party. However, at that time these errors did not dominate the whole yet.
