A Metaphor Translation Of Tang Poetry From Pattern Recognition Theory

Cognitive Psychology is about a view of information processing. It reveals the cognitive process of internal mechanism, and explains variable psychological activities, language behavior of human being. With the rapid development of cognitive psychology, it is also influencing other subjects a lot. Some theories and viewpoints produce positive influence on translation, especially the process of translation.Poem is the sea of metaphor and even more in the Tang Poetry. The thesis analyzes the Pattern Recognition and it's three patterns of Cognitive Psychology and showing metaphor translation process of Tang Poetry by analyzing the three patterns:Template pattern, Prototype pattern, Feature pattern. And passage finally explained primary process of translation from Cognitive Psychology perspective. Through studying three patterns of Cognitive Psychology, this thesis aims to prove the explanatory power of metaphor of Tang Poetry towards translation practice, and provides the translating strategies of metaphor in Tang Poetry from new perspectives.
