A Contrastive Analysis Of English Profiles Between Local Sichuan And Western Pharmaceutical Companies-From Stylistic Perspective

Recently, with the unprecedented development in western China, more and more local Sichuan corporations endeavor to get engaged in international competition. Professional company profiles will bridge language gap and enable Chinese companies to establish global image.The present study compares English profiles of local Sichuan companies and foreign companies from a stylistic perspective, so as to penetrate the stylistic features in these profiles, and to analyze how they differ and resemble each other. The author collects English profiles from 30 local Sichuan companies'websites and 30 foreign companies' websites. By conducting analysis from graphological level, lexical level, grammatical level and semantic level, this paper aims to generalize the stylistic features of English company profiles and propose solutions to compose company profiles professionally.The thesis is intended to be a quantitative and qualitative one. By exploring the stylistic similarities and differences between profiles from both parties, this paper broadens the study scope of stylistic analysis, improves the quality and effectiveness of local Sichuan English profiles and facilitates students'writing and translation of business English.This thesis includes five parts. Chapter One mainly introduces the research background, purpose and significance of the study. Chapter Two is literature review. Chapter Three includes data collection, methods of analysis and procedures. Chapter Four analyzes data and explores the similarities and difference from stylistic perspective. Chapter Five summarizes the major findings, limitations and advices.
