Corporate profiles reflect culture ideology of an enterprise and serve as a platform for its communication with other overseas enterprises.This report originates from the translation of two corporate profiles of Ningbo Construction Co.Ltd.and Hisun Pharmaceutical Co.Ltd.It adopts case analysis to explore suitable principles and strategies of corporate profiles translation,under the guidance of Newmark's Text Typology theory.Language barriers,cultural differences as well as difficulties in pragmatical adaption between source language and target language are major obstacles in this translation process.To cope with these difficulties,firstly,text types of the project are analyzed and defined as informative and vocative texts.Then in light of specific application of Newmark's communicative translation strategy in the translation project,three major principles are brought forth when translating informative and vocative texts,namely,objectiveness,conciseness and reader primacy.Finally,specific translation methods including paraphrase,conversion,deletion,addition,division,etc.are introduced with regard to lexical level and syntactic level.The report aims at presenting a new perspective for the Chinese-English translation research of corporate profiles,thus contributing to setting up good image of enterprises worldwide and helping enterprises achieve more profits and realize further development.Some useful advice and inspiration for other translators are also put forward when translating similar type of materials. |
