The Study Of Xixia Historiography

Xixia Dynasty was built in 1038,which existd with Song,Liao and Jin dynasties.It was demised by Yuan Dynasty in 1227. So we can say that Xixia is an important political power, however, the following dynasty didn't compile its history.For lack of history materials or impact of the Han Thought.Until to the Qing dynasty,the reseachers did some studies on it. In the early 20th century, historical documents in Heishui City was found, then amount of scholars paied their attention to many kinds of Tanguts study, such as language of tangut,characters,society,history and law etc. However, they didn't put their foucs on the its science of history,so the author try to show the development of historiography in Xixia dynasty by research the ancient documents and books.All the research results will become the important part of Minority historiography of China.In this thesis, the author try to collate the Chinese historical documents and Tangut script documents, which related to Xixia historiography. By using this method, we can get the characters of historiography in Xixia dynasty. Chapter one describe the develpoment path of Xixia historiography; Chapter two discuss the history compiling institution and historical documents;Chapter three choose New Law and Rules of Tiansheng Era as research object, by researching its contents its historical value can be showed;Chapter four introduce the historical books which translated from Chinese to Tangut,then expounds the ralationshiop between translation results and development of historical science.
