ChaiDegeng And Historical Writing Studies Of China

In the20th century, Chinese historiography flourished. ChaiDegeng the maincharacter in this paper has made outstanding contributions to the development ofChinese historiography. Some contemporary scholars also studied ChaiDegeng, butonly limited to the achievement of certain aspects or the research character and nevergave summary to all aspects of him. Therefore, this paper gave summary to his researchfrom comprehensive, holistic perspective as mush as possible.This paper discussed ChaiDegeng’s contribution in history field from three aspects.The first part discussed his whole life, academic exchanges, academic achievement,and trying to make readers knowing him from the whole. The second part introducedChaiDegeng how to discuss Chinese historiography which is mainly on three aspectsincluding traditional Chinese historiography, Chinese historian historiography thoughtsand the character of Chinese history book. The last part gave the summary ofChaiDegeng’s research character and the limitation by the discussions in first two parts.By the discussions above, this paper tried its best to summarize his effort, achievementand research limitation in the history of Chinese historiography development.On the base of extensive collection of historical materials, this paper gavesystematic summary and comprehensive contrast and highlighted the special insight.This paper was in the guidance of Marxist theory, sought truth from facts, and refusedto follow blindly.
