| The competency of discipline teacher is a hot spot in the educational research field recently and the mental health education is also a growing topic of concern. This study, taking 14 teachers who work on mental health education in middle schools as the object, is for the purpose of discussing the competency model.In this study, there are several research methods including literature analysis,questionnaires,behavioral event interviews and so on. This paper proposes a series of researches on the competency model of mental health education teachers in middle schools.Obtained results are as follows:1. The competency model includes the traits of excellent group and the traits of all the mental health educaiton teachers in middle schools.The competency traits of the excellent group include 6 items: self-developed, self-regulation, professionalism, accumulation and summary, training other teachers and insight.The competency traits of all the mental health education teachers in middle schools include 31 items, such as self -reflection , responsibility, adaptability, affinity, moderate, initiative and so on, and the model also can be divided into 4 groups including working skills, personality characteristics, Professional attitude and self-awareness.2. This study compares the competency model of the teachers working on mental health education in middle schools with the competency model of the counseling practitioners in universities and the Counselor's, and verifies the reasonableness of the model. Different stages of learning and objects have different job requirements.3.Based on the competency model, there are several suggestions for promoting the professionalization of mental health education teachers in middle schools: Pursuiting of self-development,Improving the professional quality,Training other teachers, Accumulating the daily work and Self- Reflection.The conclusion of this study, which has important applicative value, provides empirical evidence on the selection of mental health education teachers in middle schools, performance evaluation, eligibility standards, relevant teacher education and teacher professional study. |
