In recent years, the mental health of senior school students has caused increasing concern from people of different walks. Because of the special position of the head teachers, they become the key factor of the school mental health education. The position and duty of the head teachers in senior school has decided that mental health education should be an important part of their work. So it is very important for the head teachers to make use of their particular role and play an irreplaceable role in mental health education of senior school students. But how to effectively carry out this task is a difficult problem that the head teachers of the senior school face. This essay will talk about this problem and focuses on the investigation of the present situation of the mental health education that the head teachers have done in senior school and make an analysis. On the basis of that, this essay puts forward some effective countermeasures in the hope of finding an effective operation pattern for the head teachers in their work of mental health education. With the help of interview and literature assistance, this paper adopts the questionnaire which is more often used and effective in the study of mental health education of senior school students to investigate and analyze the present situation of head teachers carrying out mental health education in senior schools in the downtown of Kunshan city. On the basis of that, this paper puts forwards some effective countermeasures. The result of the survey shows that both the teachers and students have a clear understanding of head teachers carrying out mental health education, but the head teachers are short of the theoretical knowledge and practical experience of mental health education. Besides, the dual role of head teachers as a supervisor and psychological counselor cannot coordinate. Furthermore, the head teachers are not enthusiastic about carrying out mental health education in senior school. Based on the above results, in addition to the need of optimizing the school and social environment, the author puts forward the effective countermeasures of head teachers carrying out mental health education. For example, schools should strengthen the training on head teachers'knowledge of mental health education. The head teachers should learn to coordinate their dual roles as a supervisor and psychological counselor. The authorities should try to promote teachers'working enthusiasm. Besides, the head teachers should influence their students with their excellent psychological ability and create a good class atmosphere to improve students'psychological quality.
