The aim of the study is to get an overall understanding of the word through a combination of induction with deduction.The thesis is made up of four parts.In the first part, the syntax and syntactic features of Ban Tian (åŠå¤©) are analyzed from aspects of syntactic positions and functions. While analyzing its syntactic functions, the author provides a detailed description and analysis of Ban Tian1(åŠå¤©1), Ban Tian2(åŠå¤©2) as connectors and their co-occurrence with other words.In the second part, the semantic structure and orientation of Ban Tian (åŠå¤©) are analyzed. The basic semantic structure of Ban Tian (åŠå¤©) is established through an investigation of the corpus, on the basis of which the semantic orientation of Ban Tian (åŠå¤©) is explored.In the third part, the pragmatic functions of Ban Tian1(åŠå¤©1) and Ban Tian2(åŠå¤©2) as emotional adverbs are analyzed mainly from aspects of sentence category distribution and expressive functions.In the forth part, the origin and development of Ban Tian (åŠå¤©) are analyzed. It is claimed that the word Ban Tian (åŠå¤©) was originally an object noun, then it develops into a space nouns, a temporal noun, a temporal adverb, and finally into an emotional adverb.
