The thesis reviews briefly results of previous studies on anticipation in SI, elaborates on respective quality criteria of interpretation institutions in the UN, EU and China and sums up three major quality standards, namely, completeness, smoothness, and precision.Centering on Daniel Gile ' s Effort Model, the thesis explains three effort components that compose the SI process and relevant capacity requirements. Based upon the research on anticipation, it further proposes the feasibility of anticipation cultivation through Chernov ' s Probability-prediction Model and the Schema Theory. Finally, the author analyses in details the opening part of the address by Hu Jingtao at the 2009 UN General Assembly General Debate. In accordance with the above-mentioned quality criteria, the author compares ten versions done by ten interpreters, analyses the different roles that anticipation or without makes in SI performance and sums up that anticipation facilitates and improves SI performances.
