In recent years, there are more and more frequent economic and cultural exchanges. China, with a long-standing history, brilliant culture and abundant tourism resources, attracts a large number of overseas tourists to enjoy her scenic spots. Thus, tourism industry has been growing rapidly, constituting an indispensible part in economic growth of China.Tourism translation, as an important window to foreign visitors, has gradually gained scholars'attention. The Chinese-English tourism translation practice has a definite purpose of arousing interests of tourists from English speaking countries. Unfortunately, some English versions of Chinese tourism texts are far from satisfaction and fail to attract visitors beyond China.The present study employs the Reception Aesthetics as its theoretical framework. Although Reception Aesthetics Theory is one of the literary theories, it can also guide tourism translation practice. According to this theory, readers'comprehension and their interaction with texts influences the value of translations.By adopting an integrated methodology using both theoretical and empirical methods, this thesis attempts to make a comprehensive investigation of Chinese-English translation of scenic spots publicity so as to prove that Reception Aesthetics works in the Chinese-English translation of scenic spots publicity practice as well.Meanwhile, in order to improve Chinese-English translation of scenic spots publicity as well as enhance practical effect of these texts, the author puts forward some strategies that translators should follow: keep expanding target tourists'horizons of expectation and conduct Chinese-English translation of scenic spots publicity practice with understandability as its prerequisite.
