Luckily located in the convergent area jointing up Guangxi, Hunan and Guangdong provinces, Hezhou is renowned as "Backyard Garden of Guangdong, HongKong and Macao" and was awarded China Top Tourist City on Mar.28,2008. However, the present English translation of the tourist texts of its scenic spots is still quite poor:there are still lots of tourist texts not having been translated and much of the present translation is unprofessional and far from perfect. In order to upgrade its landscape culturing to quicken its steps to the world, we should spare no efforts to upgrade its present translation as soon as possible.Aesthetics of Reception believes that when the readers are approaching a text, they are armed with a pre-existing understanding structure and knowledge, namely so-called "Horizons of Expectation". From this point of view, the translators should respect the target readers’pre-existing mindset and understanding structure to satisfy their Horizons of Expectation. Meanwhile, instead of simply keeping accommodating to the readers, the translators should try to expand the readers’Horizons of Expectation by surpassing their pre-existing mindset and understanding structure. The author thinks that Aesthetics of Reception has offered tourism translation a brand-new theoretical perspective and research method. From the perspective of Aesthetics of Reception, this thesis studies the English translation strategies and approaches of the scenic spots’names, brief introductions and public notices and signs, taking the tourism texts of the scenic spots of Hezhou as an example. In order to implement the informative and inducible functions of the tourism texts, the author believes that the English translators of the above-mentioned tourism texts should choose to satisfy or expand the readers’Horizons of Expectation flexibly according to the theoretical core of Aesthetics of Reception:The translators should attach great importance to the target readers’ acceptance. They should respect the readers’ pre-existing mindset and understanding structure by complying with the target language’s aesthetical standard, literary form and culture norms to satisfy their Horizons of Expectation; What’s more, instead of passively giving in to the readers, the translators should challenge and expand the readers’Horizons of Expectation. With enough consideration to the readers’ acceptability, they should try to surpass the readers’historical mindset and understanding structure by preserving the cultural elements of the tourism texts to the greatest extent, which is expected to be dissolved in the readers’historical horizon.
