At present, "studying arts" and " testing arts" have become hot issues in society. As a special group, the English learning condition of art students has also attracted considerable attention. Due to many factors, there exist many problems in the current art English teaching which seriously neglect their individual differences, personality development and the overall development of personal qualities. What is the present situation of this special group of art students? What are the factors influencing the teaching situation? What should be individualized teaching countermeasures in art English teaching? The deliberation of the above issues is the foundation of the paper.With the method of literature, the relevant literature review of individualized teaching has been collected and organized; with the method of comparative study, their common and individual characteristics have been identified and analyzed; with the method of survey, some art student representatives have been selected to fulfill a questionnaire and some interviews for art English teachers made so as to comprehend their cognition and demand to teaching and learning in the hope of finding a breakthrough for the implementation of individual teaching in the senior art English education.With this idea, the paper has carried out an empirical investigation on the English teaching situation in senior art schools and analyzed the main problems existing in art English teaching by the survey of teaching objectives, teaching content and teaching methods. Based on this, from the analysis of art students, teachers'teaching and teaching management, the factors that have great influence on senior art English teaching have been discussed, individualized features in art English teaching is explicit. Finally, combined with the actual situation of art English teaching in China, individualized teaching countermeasures have been put forward from the teaching objectives, teaching content, teaching methods and teaching management.This paper tries to organize the application of individuation theory in education, to find the problems existing in art English teaching by the empirical investigation, to clarify individualized characteristics in senior art English teaching in the hope of providing some help and reference for art English teaching by these preliminary research. The suggestions and countermeasures for senior art English teaching here are also to be further proved and improved in the author's practice and research in the future.
