Three Faces Of The "Object"

This thesis renders a simple but clarified clue of the object theory after studies on a series of that dated back to Marx and bases on which probes into the combination of the object theory and the literary criticism. Namely, to take full use of the achievements on object theory,to search the cultural significance of object image system, to make both mentioned above the academic rising points of Marxian criticism. And put forward an idea of constructing object theory on basis of Marxian criticism. This thesis adopts the approach of documents combined with case study. Thus, compared with using expressive theory or reflection theory, setting the "object" as a junction, we find the analysis on works is more thorough and more dimensional.In a word, review on the object image makes the literary works turn out to be a parable with abundant meanings and the Marxian theory ought to take the object theory as one of its criticizing mode.Aiming to get there, this thesis carries on discussion by three parts.In the introduction part, I look the rough assume as a sociological object theory. The research and criticism on object has long been complicated. The following three chapters try to comb three type of research, and based on which I advance a new literary criticism.The main body carries on discussion by four parts.Chapter One focus on the'commodity-fetishism'theory, the evil thing in Marx in capitalism criticize epoch. From Marx prospective, "object" became a new religion, people idolized it like adoring God. The personal relationship transformed to be relationships between people and object of just between objects, the social reality turned into the exchange of value and goods.Chapter Two mainly introduces a quite shocking object desire-ecstasy theory,raised by German socialist Sombart, during the so called monopoly period of capitalism.The cultural consumption period of late capitalism is talked about in Chapter Three. In this era, a French renowned socialist put enchantment on object which causes that the object converted into numberless feints. If go way further, object became a rope used to tie modernity or post-modernity.The object theory is frontally raised in the fourth chapter. With sufficient theory hive above, I use certain text to illustrate the feasibility and efficiency of the theory.The conclusion part tries to make the combination of semiology of object and the consciousness of sociology possible, and therefore offer literary research a more potent approach. This part also makes efforts to frame the definition of object criticism, while bring forward some principles in its practical application.
