Clothing culture is a carrier of comprehensive information on society and culture. The historical process of its change can not only reflect the politic, economy, folk-custom and religion but also the people's ideology, ways of thinking, values and lifestyles at different times.In this paper, regarding Ulalji Gacha of Chaidam Som in Arhorqin Banner as the research objective, the author has made an analysis of the rupture of Mongolian traditional clothing culture during Culture Revolution under the direct intervention of national ideology as well as its changes in the process of regeneration and causes, based on oral historical materials provided by those who have experienced Culture RevolutionThe paper consists of five parts; introduction, main text (of three chapters), conclusion, references and appendix. In the introduction, the author presents the causes of selecting the topic, previous research, purpose and significance of study, and the process of field research. Chapterâ… introduces Ulalji Gacha, the course of Culture Revolution, and the period of Culture Revolution in Ulalji Gacha. In chapterâ…¡, an analysis has been made of oral historical materials by several herdsmen in Ulalji Gacha to prove the rupture of Mongolian traditional clothing culture. Chapter III presents the regeneration and changes of Mongolian traditional clothing culture after Culture Revolution. In the conclusion, the author makes a conclusion on the whole text pointing out that the features of Mongolian clothing in different area has stopped developing towards one model as they used to be, in fact, Mongolian clothing has changed from the daily clothes to ceremonial or symbolic ones.
