Since Yan Zhen's full-length novel "Kaleidoscope" was published, it attracted a big response both in the academic community and readers. From the first edition of 2001 to February 2010, the novel was printed 29 versions, which was indeed not a small figure in the social context of literature depression. However, it seemed that people's acceptance to this novel appeared some misreading in some degree. Critics largely concentrated in the problem of system on people's alienation, as well as the tragedy of the intellectual degradation of personality; regular readers were refer to it as a bureaucratic guidelines, the poeticity contained in the novel is totally forgotten. This paper strives to sort out the misreading status quo, summarize the poetic expression in the text and focus on analysis of the reason for this misreading. The body of this article consists of five chapters. Chapter I is focus on defining the " poeticity" as a core concept of the full text; then I point out the poetic atmosphere and poetic factor as well as the specific poetic expression contained in the novel. The second to the fifth chapter analyzed four causes why it was misread. Chapter II is from the perspective of social thought, analyzing the formation of market economy environment and the prevalence of consumerism trend are important background factors for this misreading. This background is important reason for the utilitarian reading. Another factor is the collapse and imitation of sanctity of intellectual which caused the readers'inertia of thinking. Starts from the perspective of readers, chapter III divides the readers into two categories and analyses this two types of readers separately: readers for studying of professional literature and regular readers, Chapter III analysis misreading from the structural of the text itself, because the ratio of the three parts of the text does not show uniform distribution, so the larger proportion of in the middle part became the core content of the text. Chapter V analyses the philosophical implication of the metaphysical quality and Philosophical embeddings and utilitarian nature of reading induce poeticity is bound to be forgotten. This paper attempts to analysis "Kaleidoscope" from the perspective of reader acceptance, and explore the specific situation how readers accept literature and what's the reason for the status quo in the context of an era today. Literature does not exist as an isolated text, it's a whole work which constitutes text, world, writers and readers together. I hope this analysis from the perspective of specific readers'acceptance can play a useful supplement to contemporary literary studies, and can also be helpful for explaining some other literary phenomena.
