Research Of Visual Language On Jinxi Puppet Animation

As the great master of Chinese puppet animation, Jinxi is as well as the earliest animation directors who worked on creation of puppet animation and theory study. His creation life occurred over the whole step of initial shaped through to flourish developing from 1950s'to 1980s', and contributed to the developing of Chinese puppet animation art greatly. This article direct mainly on the research of his works and theory, including the films and articles published on various magazines in which he worked as director, editor and style designing. The integrated system was formed by the collection of information, retrospection of the background, connecting with interview to the animation artists. On the base of the above, the visual language is studied on, and it summarized the value of visual language by analysis on the causes and characteristics of Jinxi visual language. At present, the systematic study on old animation artists is lacked, and developing of puppet animation is going with the flow but without nationality and orientation. Therefore, it is necessary for the new creators to relearn the history of our puppet animation and the animation masters, and see the problems of animation development in proportion. The new generation should be on the olds'shoulders to learn their achievements, carry on their spirit and then find the new breakthrough and advancement, which is also the significance of animation research to the creation and development of our puppet animation.
