The "zai" structures in Chinese language are frequently discussed and viewed as grammar points of great importance not only in linguistic field but also in the field of teaching Chinese to the speakers of other languages. Based on our questionnaire, we found that foreign students usually don't have a systematic view of how to use "zai" structures in certain circumstances and they tend to make errors and mistakes when using them. Meanwhile, the modern instructional technology plays an important and practical role in explaining the grammar points and sentence structures with space cognition concept. We attempt to combine the multi-media teaching technology and the teaching of "zai" structures in a comprehensive way to better observe the learning effect of students.The research is mainly based on experiments of two parallel learning classes of the same level, under learning circumstance of either multimedia teaching methods or traditional teaching methods. By using the SPSS software, we firstly observe the performances of students of two learning classes before and after the whole learning process and give out the overall contrast analysis on them. Then we focus on dealing with the performances of students in the multi-media class by studying their actual performances on answering the questions of different categories and their understanding of how to use different structures. The detailed contrast analysis on teaching process of multi-media teaching method is also talked. Furthermore, we analyze on the relationship between the personal learning factors and their study performances. Finally we summarize the analysis results above and gives out the final conclusions and teaching suggestions.According to multi-directional analysis, the experimental result indicates that comparing with the traditional way of teaching, the effect of using multi-media method in the class has a distinguished advantage. Students who participated in the multi-media class agreed that the multi-media way of presenting the sentence structures is interesting and highly accepted. Therefore, we might conclude that, using the multi-media teaching methods to teach sentence structures with space cognitive concept is a very effective way and can be introduced into practical use.
