Junan Dialect belongs to Jiaoliao Mandarin, which is important branch of North Dialect. As is Shandong Dialect concerned, it belongs to the district of Dongwei. At present, there are very few articles of Junan Dialect research. The local Gazetteer of Junan only mentioned some simple aspects about Phonology, vocabulary and gramer. This article is a result of comprehensive investigation and study can offer materials to the research of Shandong dialect and can offer contemporary material to the research of Chinese dialects and history of Chinese language in a deeper step.This thesis, in seven chapters, provides a comprehensive description of the Junan Dialect and furthermore explores certain important phonetic problems.Chapter One:Preface. It explains the general situation of research, geography, the historical evolution and the population of Junan; the dialect branch which Junan Dialect belongs to and its basic features; the phonetic symbols and main informants.Chapter Two:The phonetic system of single characters and its major peculiarities. It describes in detail the phoneme characters of Junan Dialect in consonants, vowels, tones and the basic features of phoneme.Chapter Three:The changes of pronunciation. The tone sandhi of disyllabic word and the neutral tone.Chapter Four:Polyphonetic characters. It mainly contains the polyphoneme between literal reading and colloquial reading; the polyphoneme between the new variety and the old variety.Chapter Five:The comparison between Junan Dialect and the phonology of Qieyun.Chapter Six:Pronunciation types of Zhi-Zhuang-Zhang groups and Jing-Jian-Duan groups of Dialect Junan.Chapter Seven:Syllabary. It contains about 3500 words of Junan Dialect.
